School of Architecture and Engineering | Labor creates everything, striving for the future

After the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, the Government Council of the Central People’s Government designated May 1st as the statutory Labor Day in December 1949, with a national holiday of one day.

May Day, also known as “May Day” or “International Day of Demonstrations”, is a national holiday in over 80 countries around the world.

To commemorate this incident and protest the subsequent verdict, worker protests were held worldwide.

This struggle shook the entire United States.

Every year on this day, the whole country celebrates, and people change into festive attire and gather in parks, theaters, and squares in high spirits to participate in various celebration gatherings or cultural and entertainment activities, and to commend workers for their outstanding contributions.

These activities became the precursor of International Labor Day.

On May 1, 1886, 350000 workers in cities such as Chicago in the United States held a general strike and demonstration, demanding the implementation of an 8-hour working system and the improvement of labor conditions.

It is scheduled on May 1st every year.

The First Congress of the Second International Conference held in Paris in July 1889 decided to designate May 1st as the “International Day of Demonstrations” or “International Labor Day”.

It is a holiday shared by working people all over the world.

The general strike of American workers has won.

It was not until President Roosevelt took office in 1935 that the eight hour working day was established as a national legislation in the United States.
