Nie Jianguo, who wanted to be an “engineer” since he was a child, has devoted all his love to civil engineering in his motherland for more than 40 years

After graduating from middle school in early January 1972, Nie Jianguo, 14, went back to work as a farmer, but he never gave up studying

In October 1977, after learning the news of the resumption of the college entrance examination, he insisted on realizing his childhood dream of becoming an engineer and decided to take the college entrance examination resolutely, although his superior leaders at that time persuaded him not to take the college entrance examination and promised to help him “change jobs” as soon as possible

In February 1978, he received the admission notice from Hunan University as he wished, which opened the long march of scientific exploration

After receiving his doctorate, Nie Jianguo returned to China in March 1992 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow of Professor Shen Jumin in the Department of civil engineering of Tsinghua University

When he was a postdoctoral student in Tsinghua University, Nie Jianguo’s career was just at the beginning

In the autumn of 1994, Nie Jianguo completed a two-year post doctoral research in the Department of civil engineering of Tsinghua University, and without hesitation chose to stay on teaching
