After literature reading and data verification, we find that there are countless connections between the historical urban axis and today’s urban axis.

Starting from the historical elements of the site, transfer and roaming activities and other different dimensions, a set of identifiable space system unique to Shanghai West Railway Station base is constructed to meet the needs of people at different levels for road finding and activities, and provide users with better space experience and higher travel efficiency.

Therefore, we combine the historical elements of Jinan University and the spatial elements of urban development, collide the two sets of axis systems of history and modernity, revive the historical memory, repair today’s urban space, and put forward the concept of M + Tod.

At the same time, we put the three axes at different elevations, open up the flow through space on the section, let the three parallel axis spaces penetrate each other, and integrate the near ground space of the whole site into a whole, so as to fully spread the vitality of the subway people in the site.

The scheme discusses the influence of different elements on people’s cognitive activities, and then deduces the corresponding guiding design.

Can we turn the relationship between the two into positive interaction? Just like the vitality of the station new village.

These two attitudes made us curious about all kinds of daily life, so we took the perspective of daily life to study the site: we found that the site itself is a wonderful mixture: the west railway station is at the junction of two development areas; The different historical textures of the site are squeezed together, but they are finally roughly cut and separated by traffic roads and railways; The peripheral function is relatively single, and the daily life of living and learning lacks fixed service support.

Method extraction: through the study of six excellent cases (traffic related architectural design & the case in the book made in Tokyo), we extracted three space prototypes “intertwined, extended and aggregated”.

Conceptual model: concept proposal: summarizing the above observations, we find that the biggest problem of the site is the non homing chaos and residents’ indifference to daily life, which interact negatively and slow down the development of Shanghai West Railway Station.
