[Architecture] new work of ortraum Architects

A new work of oratrium Architects – mysterious woodland cottage kynttil ü designed by oratrium architects is a wooden cottage, which is located on Saima Lake in Finland

.

The end of the mountain shaped gable enjoys the waterscape

.

Helsinki based ortraum architects built kynttil, meaning “candle,” near the Russian border near saoulina

.

The cabin is made of cross laminated wood, kyntil ü is made of cross laminated wood (CLT) and covered with larch wood

.

The 15 square meter cabin is located in the position where the nunanemi Peninsula extends into the water

.

Therefore, to make full use of the lakeside scenery, there should be floor glass at one end

.

Larch planks cover the exterior, CLT is exposed to the interior, and also form built-in furniture, such as a bed, which is located at the end of a glass

.

The ladder leads to the bunk bed above the door

.

Both ends of the cabin are overhanging with eaves to provide a covered raised platform for you to sit outdoors or store your boots outdoors

.

This part also protects the wooden piles placed under the engine room

.

“Space is closely connected with nature, because the large windows can establish direct and intimate contact and communication with the surrounding environment,” said ostraum architects, whose eaves cover the platform overlooking the lake “At night, kynttil á shines like a candle on the shore of the lake.” At the glass end of the cabin sits a bed, and kynttil á is in a primeval forest, so the architects plan to minimize the impact of the construction process

.

CLT components are prefabricated on site

.

After a day’s construction of temporary roads, only large pieces of goods can be transported into trucks, then lifted and placed with large pieces of glass

.

Kyntl á is assembled once a day to serve as a guest house and meditate in the summer villa and sauna

.

Ortraum architects is a Finnish studio founded by Martin lukasczyk

.

Its previous projects include a wood music studio designed for a house in Helsinki, which is shortlisted for the 2020 dezeen prize, and a house in the forest with its own climbing wall
