Anti gravity, collection of long-span buildings

The powerful ritual continuous arc wall carries the rhythm of light.

The main feature of this open gallery space is the 25 cm thick concrete shell with two elliptical openings.

Surrounding the garden is a five story multi-level retail market, where people can enter the garden through a series of vertical canyons.

Thus, the bookshelves on the steps are exposed to the outside, and the layers of curves make people seem to be in the environment of “ocean of knowledge”.

The vault of each span is lifted by the retreating double columns on both sides, and a domino like structural system is formed between spans.

The implication is that the space on the bridge is not only a way of action, but also a space for stopping, wandering, resting and communication, and even a spiritual space for sacrifice and worship.

Here, you can see a series of beautiful photography works about Fengdao art museum displayed on Ivan Bain’s website.

The bamboo device “arc” ibuku “arc” is the latest benchmark in the long history of this place, and its design has improved the standard of global sustainable education buildings.

The building not only serves as an educational center, but also connects parks and cultural areas.

The “eyes” is a mirror with an auditorium, which occupies the main area of the atrium and expands the internal sensory space.

The reverse arc vault is converted from the drainage warping of the traditional building slope roof and combined with the arc cycloid correction.

The suspended folding and thick reverse arc arch roof show a sense of simplicity and vitality, It seems that the building is placed on the long axis of time, showing the traces of years and historical accumulation of memorial buildings, and jointly creating a local spiritual place.

Waterfalls – which can flow more than 10000 gallons per minute at peak conditions – can not only help cool the landscape environment, but also collect a large amount of rainwater for some reuse projects around the building.

Due to the structure of “bending plates and folding”, the space on the first floor seems to be squeezed by gravity, which strengthens the spatial prototype of the corridor bridge..

Citizens can not only feel the atmosphere of the three courtyards inside the cultural center, but also participate in outdoor activities while enjoying the sculpture exhibition.

Here, we have collected some works characterized by spanning a long distance.

As a pioneer in similar buildings, the project has an overall span of 19 meters and is composed of a series of intertwined 14 meter high bamboo arches, and the arch structures are interconnected by saddle grid structures, so that these arch structures can obtain the method of “escaping” gravity from hyperbolic paraboloid.

In architecture, “span” is a term to describe the length of a structural component between two supports, or the continuous space formed between two columns of the building structure.

Bend Loop

The lower layer of the corridor bridge is crossed by water, and the upper layer is for people to pass.

They use different materials, such as steel, concrete and bamboo.

An oval open space supported by “eyes” passes through the building.

Ryue Nishizawa, an architect from Tokyo, and Japanese artist REI Naito designed the Toyoma Art Museum.

However, several other buildings have this feature, and recent projects have been using innovative and bold structures to create more unexpected designs.

The long volume of ash removal creeps in the field.

When we think of this element, people can’t help recalling the classics such as Lina bobardi’s masp, Á lvarosiza’s 98 World Expo Portuguese National Pavilion, and the Roman pantheon.

Taking the pedestrian flow line around the site as the design reference, the building is organically connected with the nearby communities.

The terrace bookshelf echoes the form of a sphere, which creates an internal design, terrain and landscape that extends to the outside and wraps around the facade.

At the heart of Xingyao Changi is a forest valley.

The concrete of floor slab and roof is cast in place at one time, and all pipelines and lamps are embedded in the structure.

There are more than 200 different kinds of trees and plants, and the world’s highest indoor waterfall – “rain vortex” – pours down from an eye hole in the dome roof to the seven storey forest valley garden below.
